In 2020, we invested in a comprehensive 32kW grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) solar electric system, demonstrating our commitment to clean energy and reducing our environmental footprint. Our state-of-the-art system comprises 97 high-efficiency all-black monocrystalline solar modules, each optimized with Enphase Energy IQ Series microinverters. These are securely mounted using a non-penetrating metal roof seam clamp racking system, ensuring the integrity of our facility.
This thoughtfully designed PV system is estimated to produce approximately 40,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually. This significant output substantially reduces our reliance on traditional grid energy, providing a sustainable power source for our rapidly advancing medical services for over a quarter of a century.
We actively monitor the positive impact of our solar energy system through the Enphase Energy online portal. Here’s a look at the environmental benefits we’ve achieved each year:

Over the past five years, our commitment to solar energy has resulted in a significant cumulative environmental impact:
This substantial reduction in carbon emissions directly contributes to cleaner air and a healthier environment for our community. At Wellspring Health Services, we firmly believe that environmental wellness is intrinsically linked to overall health and community well-being. By investing in solar energy, we are not only powering our facility sustainably but also actively contributing to a healthier future for all.
Total CO2 Reduction: 128.9 tons since 2020
Total Trees Planted Equivalent: 2,200 since 2020
Total Phones Charged: 15.79M Phones in 2020
At Wellspring Health Services, our commitment extends beyond providing excellent medical care. We believe in being responsible stewards of our environment and actively seek ways to minimize our impact. Our solar energy system is a shining example of this dedication, allowing us to power our facility with clean, renewable energy and contribute to a healthier community for generations to come. We are proud to be a leader in sustainable healthcare in our region and will continue to explore innovative ways to operate responsibly and care for both your health and the health of our planet.
Solar energy is the radiant light and heat from the sun that can be harnessed using a range of technologies such as photovoltaic panels (for electricity) and solar thermal systems (for heating). Photovoltaic panels convert sunlight directly into electricity through the photovoltaic effect, where photons striking semiconductor materials create an electric current.
Solar energy is a renewable and inexhaustible resource, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. It produces clean energy with minimal greenhouse gas emissions during operation, improves air quality, and can lower electricity bills. It also enhances energy independence and can increase property values.
While direct sunlight is optimal, solar panels can still generate electricity on cloudy days and in various climates. The efficiency may vary depending on the intensity and duration of sunlight, but advancements in technology have made solar viable in many regions.
We believe in transparency and are proud to share our commitment to solar energy and its positive impact with our patients and the wider community through our website and other communication channels. We hope to inspire others to consider sustainable practices.
As the only solar-powered healthcare facility in the region, we see ourselves as a leader in demonstrating the viability and benefits of clean energy within the healthcare sector. We hope to set an example and encourage other facilities to explore sustainable solutions.
While our solar energy system is a facility-level initiative, we aim to foster a culture of sustainability within our organization. We encourage staff awareness of our efforts and may explore opportunities to involve patients in broader environmental awareness campaigns in the future.
While the initial investment in solar energy is significant, the long-term reduction in energy costs allows us to allocate resources more effectively towards providing high-quality patient care and potentially supporting community health initiatives.
